Rest In Peace ...
01.28.07 (12:02 am)   [edit]
Today we had the Service of Thanksgiving and Celebration for the Life of Evelyn Mary S----, our mom! .. Such a glorious day today .. we were blessed with loving family and friends at the service, followed by a dinner .. (almost 100 people in attendance) .. and family returned to the house afterward to continue in our tribute to her. She passed on Friday, January 19 and we celebrated her life today .. it was such a nice experience to hear so many people praise her and her loving ways and how she shared her life with everyone she touched! She suffered with Alzheimer's for the past three years .. she was 88 .. Rest in Peace, Mom ..!

Goodbye ...!

Mom passed on to a better place today .. now we are making final plans. She and I interacted for a brief time this morning .. about 8:30 she was having some difficulty breathing .. I gave her some medicine to help with the breathing and she seemed to settle down .. i was making comments about the nice sunshine outside, and that the plants in the room needed watering and i was going to get some water for them .. she said "they will thank you for the drink" .. and we chuckled .. which was her usual comment after i watered the plants .. about an hour later i checked on her and she wasn't breathing so i called the rest of the family. I made coffee, they brought Tim Horton iced cinnamon rolls and we called hospice. The hospice 'crew' came to the house and followed through with the rest of the paperwork, etc .. the aide cleaned her up and she looked so peaceful in her pink outfit and we said our final goodbye. Right up to the end she was thankful for all we had done for her and to allow her to remain in her home. She would say "I don't know what I'd do without you kids!" She was the sweetest person and always so considerate of others .. what we did we did with love! Thanks to everyone for prayers that we would have the strength to follow through on the promise to dad that we would take care of her .. ((hugs))
