On Christmas Eve my daughter-in-law's family was also present for dinner. This consists of her parents, brothers and their wives, sister and her hubby, and babies. We had a total of 15 for dinner, four under the age of five. My daughter-in-law is of Italian and Irish heritage. We adhered to the family tradition of Feast of Seven Fishes for Christmas Eve, which is a Sicilian tradition. Very interesting to this Irish/Scot/Welsh/English/ mongrel! We can learn new things all the time, no matter how old we get.
After returning from church it was time to put the little ones down for the night. Then the older kids (the rest of us) played games. There is now the tradition of a domino game to see who can win the ‘domino' trophy. We all sit around a big round table and play Mexican Train, which is a form of dominoes. It is so much fun to see everyone getting along so well and laugh ~ a real pleasure to be a part of this. I missed this part of Christmas the last two years as I was on the other side of the state staying with mom ~ but we celebrate in fun ways there as well. I love my family!
Then about midnight the other families gathered up their sleeping babies to go home and go to bed so that Santa could stop by. We snuggled into our beds ourselves to await the joy of Christmas morning.
Oh what a joy it was! I love to watch the little ones with their toys. My grandchildren are 5 and 3 and they are such a joy to watch them see what Santa brought for them. The day went on for a long time and it was so much fun!
I am so blessed ~ Thank you God!
To all my friends on tblog ~ enjoy the holiday season!

Candle for all children!
I am at my sister's at the present time and we lit a candle on December 9 for all the children who have died. The church also had a special candle lit as well. Hugs to all my friends as we share in this small rememberance of these children.
I wish you all peace and love.
