Happy Easter...
03.22.08 (3:57 pm)   [edit]
Photobucket I may have shared this somewhere on tblog at another time, but since this is Easter weekend I will share it again… Many years ago on an Easter Sunday morning my brother and I were walking to church. We lived in the city and it was two long blocks to the church. It was a beautiful tree-lined walk with elm trees and in the summer it was like walking in an arbor of green; well, this morning the sun was shining and all was well. We were dressed up, as was the thing to do of course. It was a cool morning so I had on a new spring coat. I was 11 and my brother was 5 ½ and he was lollygagging behind, as boys tend to do, all the time looking for stuff to be found; exploring is what he called it! I was telling him to hurry up, we’ve got to get to church before the bells chime. We were almost to the church and my brother said, Oh-oh, a bird pooped on your coat; do we have to go back home so you can change. I stopped, took the coat off and sure enough; bird poop on my nice new powder blue coat. I said, No, we don't have time to go back now; besides birds are God’s creatures too. And so on we went. Of course I turned the coat inside so it did not show or get on the pew, and so no one would see it. Well, on the way out of the service as the minister was shaking hands with the congregation, he told the minister that God’s bird pooped on my sister’s new coat; wanna see it? . . . *true story ~ and he loves to tell this ~ many times!

Exercise time for some of the older crowd...

EASY EXERCISE FOR PEOPLE OVER 50
(And you don't need expensive equipment)

Begin by standing on a comfortable surface,
where you have plenty of room at each side.

With a 5-lb potato sack in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax.

Each day you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer.

After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb potato sacks. Then try 50-lb potato sacks and then eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-lb potato sack in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute.   (I'm at this level.)

.

.

After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each of the sacks.

Fishing trip...
03.06.08 (7:49 pm)   [edit]

A man called home to his wife and said, 'Honey I have been asked to go fishing up in Canada with my boss & several of his Friends.  We'll be gone for a week.  This is a good opportunity for me to get that Promotion I've been wanting, so could you please pack enough clothes for a week and set out my rod and fishing box, we're leaving from the office and I will swing by the house to pick up my things.' ' Oh! Please pack my new blue silk pajamas.'

The wife thinks this sounds a bit fishy but being the good wife she is, did exa ctly what her husband asked.  The following weekend he came home a little tired but otherwise looking good.  The wife welcomed him home and asked if he caught many fish?  He said, 'Yes! Lots of Salmon, some Bluegill, and a few Swordfish.  But why didn't you pack my new blue silk pajamas like I asked you to Do?'

You'll love the answer....
