Color my life ... happy!

colored pencils

When my young grandchildren come to visit we do things together ~ one of them is to color using colored pencils ~ and we all love to do that!  It is so much fun to be a kid again.  We even get to go to the duck pond and feed the ducks ~ I do think I've got to get a camera and start taking pictures, ya think?

Prayer request please ~

This has been a very busy day.  I was watching the grandchildren last night and today as my daughter-in-law’s father had surgery.  He was told he had a tumor on one kidney and they were going to remove the kidney.  Then when they got inside I guess there was some encroachment on to the liver so a part of the liver was also removed.  He is 60 years of age.  He also has some problem with anemia during this time and has had several blood transfusions before surgery.  He is to undergo chemo after he recovers from this surgery.

We are all praying that the doctors were able to remove all of the cancer and that he will be able to recover completely.  If you are so inclined, may I ask that you lift him up in prayer for this ordeal?  Thank you and I’ll post again when more news is known.  ((hugs))

This is for FractalMom ~

TEQUILA

Here we go ~ is this what we like?

I'll bring this to the pool party, along with chips, salsa, and guacamole.

You just let us know the date!  Do you have ice?

We had a grand time ~

We had a fabulous time! No real values, but what an experience.

As the time goes by 'some of the people' got silly, but it was fun.  You notice what the other person has people chat to each other and it is such a variety of items, as you well know if you watch this show at all.

We had several things to take.  Actually we were only able to take two pieces per person.

My niece had a chair that belonged to her grandmother’s grandmother.  We were always told; “do not sit on that chair as it is very old” and it resided in her bedroom, in a prominent corner in full view.  It does look lovely, but with most antiques, “do not touch” is often what you hear.  It was appraised at about $150, but it was a part of a parlor set and would need the other pieces to increase the value.  The wood was walnut and in excellent condition, but at some time it had been reupholstered ~ the doom for high priced value.

She also had some albums recorded about 1922 by Paul Robeson from Showboat ~ and other spirituals ~ a fabulous set ~ originals from Victor Recording (OLD) ~ but they were only assessed at about $50.  They are so old that they were recorded only on one side ~ some of the first we thought.  Oh well!  They still sound nice.

And then there were some glass pieces ~ special plate sets, cream and sugar sets ~ but were told that they are no more than $50-$75 per set.  So my sister says, “then I’m going to use them and enjoy them!”

One thing that caught the interest of several is one man who walked by with ‘a board and some stones glued to it.’  My sister laughed at that and said, “now what value is in a piece of Masonite with stones glued to it?”  My niece said, “be quiet, or they are going to throw us out if you don’t behave.”  And then the laughter was even louder.   By this time ‘some of us’ were getting a bit silly.   After it was over and the man walked by again ~ he said they are “arrowheads, etc.” and they were appraised at about $150.

But they Roadshow was so well organized and things went really well.  I’d say, “All had a grand time.”  So if you ever have a chance to get tickets to an Antiques Roadshow (they are free) when they come to your area, be sure to enter for tickets and have a grand time.  Even if you just ‘glue some rocks to a board’ ~ who knew? ~ Smile

I was able to obtain tickets for the Antiques Roadshow for this Saturday and my sister and niece are coming to Grand Rapids to see if we have any valuable antiques in our family.  See you on the TV ~ or not!

Has anybody done this before?
