Back home again ...

Hello my friends,

Sorry for the absence folks but I was away on a little vacation, as you may or may not remember from my last post.  It was so nice to get away and such but I am glad to be home.  I am sure that is the case with everyone as, “Be it ever so humble, there is no place like home.”

While in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan we (my sister and her hubby, and I) met with some cousins and chitchatted awhile to get caught up on all that is going on in each family.

We had a picnic and ended up around a campfire and we roasted marshmallows to make s’mores.

Y’all know what s’mores are, right?  A yummy well-toasted and softened marshmallow between two graham crackers with 4-6 six squares of Hershey’s milk chocolate that get squished together so the marshmallow melts the chocolate and it is so good you want some more, alas the name s’more and pluralized to s’mores cuz you don’t eat just one, you need more.

Now today I worked in the yard getting ready to plant some flowers for color.  My tulips, daffodils, crocus, and hyacinths have all done their thing, the iris are blooming as well as the roses, but I need some other color as these will soon fade.  And I want to keep as much planted to keep the weeds down.  The more flowers there are and then there will be fewer weeds … and I do not like weeds! ~ well who does ~ right?  So tomorrow I shall plant flowers!

Speaking of flowers ~ while away my sisters and I went to the family cemetery near Grass Lake, Michigan to plant flowers in the urns on either side of the family marker.  The VFW had been there to place the new flags on the graves of the military personal buried there.  We have two on our plot.

Years ago my grandmother planted iris and tulips by the headstone so there is color each spring but by this time those flowers are gone so we go out and plant geraniums and such in each urn to honor our loved ones who have gone on before us.  This is a tradition my father has done since 1946 or so after he lost two of his brothers due to military service and my sisters and I continue that tradition.

I know we celebrated Memorial Day last weekend, but the official Memorial Day is Saturday the 30th.  Must never forget!

I hope you behaved yourselves while I was away!  You did?

That’s good!

Stop by for a cup of coffee when you get a chance!

Whew ~ that is a relief...

All is well, and for this I am very thankful.

My CT scan I had earlier in the week was a follow-up for some recent problems I have been having and the doctor thought it best to have the test to ease our minds.  I am six years out from my cancer episode.

And I got a phone call today that there were no major changes from the previous scans I have had in this regard.  All lab tests were norm al as well!  I feel so much better now!

I had a trip scheduled to attend a Family Reunion in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, with some side trips as well, starting Saturday and now I will be able to go on my trip without the burden of awaiting the results of the tests.

We will get to go across the Mackinaw Bridge to the Upper Peninsula ~ a favorite thing of mine, but my sister has a problem crossing bridges.  Too bad we still can't take the ferry across the straits.

I leave Saturday to join with my sister and her hubby to venture to the UP! So this is one happy camper!  No, I am not going camping, but just an expression ~ but we will be staying in a cabin one night at our cousins (the site of the reunion) as we wind down the day of the reunion.  Some of the others do have campers and motor homes.  The rest of the time we will be staying in hotels.

As we wind down our gathering with the cousins, we will be having fireside chats, no doubt toasting hotdogs over the fire, and some marshmallows, too! We usually try to do this outside, and if the moon is bright it will be especially nice.  However, if the skeeters and black flies are out in abundance, we will move the party inside and toast foods at the fireplace; it will be a little more crowded, but hey, the more the merrier.

Just like being kids again ~ Oh life is grand!

Wish you all could join me for the fun and frivolity!  Surely there will be lots of food and beverages of choice ~ well coffee at least ~ otherwise BYOB!

((hugs))

Calmness in our lives...

I am sharing this with you as I hear it definitely works and we could all use a little more calmness in our lives.  By following some simple advice heard on the Dr Phil Show, and I don't watch that show, but this is from a trusted source ~ it was said, "You, too, could find inner peace."

Dr Phil proclaimed, "The way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you have started and never finished."

So I looked around the house to see the things I started and hadn't finished, and before leaving this morning I finished off a bottle of Kahlua, a bottle of Irish Cream, a bottle of Merlot, a bottle of Zinfandel, a package of Oreo cookies, the rest of my Prozac prescription, and a bottle of contrast medium as I am scheduled to have a CT scan this afternoon.

You have no idea how freaking good I feel right now!!!

If I remember I'll let you know the results of my test ~

((hugs))

PS ~ if this isn't readable ~ oh well!
