FORE ! ! !

Hello my friends,

You are not going to believe what I did this weekend!

I went golfing!

I know that probably doesn’t sound so strange to a lot of you, but for me, it is a different story.

Well, first I guess I should clarify what I mean when I say, “I went golfing.”

I went with my friends, Surrogate, whom you are familiar with, and our friend Dot.  I myself do not ‘golf’ except for miniature golf, so I was invited to drive the golf cart.

Yes, drive the golf cart!  Now that is a first for me!

We had a grand time ~ well I did anyway!

We started out with rather cool weather for this time of year and we scrambled to find a sweater, jacket, or something to ward off the chill.  Then as we were about at the 5th hole the sun came out and it was rather warm, especially for Dot who wore a long-sleeved sweater in light of the cool morning.  Surrogate had a sweatshirt to use if he needed it, but didn’t think he did when we started out.  I had a jacket with me and it was folded up in the bottom of the cart for use if/when I figured I needed it.

As we were going along and following a foursome, who were very slow, aggravatingly slow as a matter of fact, we had a couple of brief showers.  Nothing much, but just light rain and not even enough to warrant a jacket, etc. and it was enough to cool the hot air and the now the breeze was rather pleasant.  So much so that they lowered the top half of the windshield and the breeze felt very nice as I was watching the two of them execute the plays to achieve the goal of getting the golf ball into the little hole.  Smile

Then as we were playing the back nine ~ well, they were playing and I was in charge of the transportation.  There was an ominous looking black cloud approaching the course.  As we approached the 12th hole, the foursome that were playing slower and slower, were resting on the ground and they invited us to play through ~ so we did.  Then as we were playing we noticed it starting to rain, and before we knew it we were in the middle of a rain shower.  This time it was heavy enough to don our protective jackets, hats, etc. and continue on.

And then as we played that hole the rain let up and the sun came out again, for a little while.  It didn’t stay too long and Dot mentioned that it felt like we had gone through four seasons of weather, minus the snow part, and it was a strange day, as it was back to being chilly again.

But she did say she was glad I was along and doing the driving as it made it much easier for them.  However Surrogate thought I needed to practice my ‘golf cart driving’ as it was a bit rough.  Smile

Anyway, we laughed a lot ~ rather I did and was told to settle down or they would think I had been imbibing ~ of course I had not.  But as I drove through the tunnel I laughed so loud and it actually echoed, and I thought that was a hoot.  I think the echo was a bit rough on Surrogate’s ears, but he really didn’t complain, much.   And further along on the course we had to drive over a bridge and I told everyone to “Hold on, I don’t want anyone to fall into the drink!”   Smile

Well, I had a grand time and hope to be asked to do the driving for them again.  It was a blast!  And now I have experience and feel much better about driving all over the golf course.   Unfortunately the summer is winding down and so that will limit the times one is able to play again.  Wish me luck that I’ll be able to assist again by driving them around the golf course.

FORE!!!

This is a photo of Roadie the cat helping me write the post ~ not such a good picture of her and I'll try to do better next time.

We wish you all a very good day!
