new baby time... soon

 

For all those interested … and even if you aren’t …

I have been on ‘new baby alert’ as my son and his wife are expecting their third baby soon.  Due date is between the 14th and the end of the month  … but, no baby yet!

I have been staying at their house this past week as on Monday evening son phoned and said wife was having some contractions and could I come to stay with the little ones if/when they go to the hospital.   So I grabbed my bag and off I went to their house.

 

Well, nothing more progressed so the next morning she went off to work ~ she is a Special Ed teacher.  Son takes granddaughter to school and I stay home with grandson as he is in preschool and only goes to school Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.  Daughter-in-law continued to work all week having occasional contractions each day, and evening, but nothing consistent.  So each day it was, business as usual.

 

Now it is Friday and daughter-in-law had a doctor’s appt after work and so son went with her in case they admit her.  She is still having occasional contractions but nothing consistent, but she is uncomfortable (I would think so!) and she is so close to the date. 

 

And granddaughter is having a sleepover at Grandpa’s for two nights and will be going to a family birthday on Saturday for a party for ‘aunt Ida who is 85’ ~ I am sure my 6-y/o granddaughter will be delighted, but Grandpa wants to show her off (can’t say that I blame him) ~ and so I decided that grandson and I could come to my place for our own sleepover ‘for two nights’… he is so excited. 

 

Update …

 

Well ~ daughter-in-law just phoned @ 6 o’clock ~ the doctor did not keep her as she is “maybe between 2-3 cm dilated!”  So they are home and will enjoy the quiet w/o the other kids around, and another couple will be coming over for a scrabble game. 

 

We will go back there on Sunday to resume the weekly schedule of school, etc. 

In the meantime I can sleep in my own bed, and use my recliner … as well as not have to use dial-up for my computer access.  They do not have cable or dsl for computer use.

Thanks PG ~ still no baby.
I took granddaughter to dance class this afternoon to give mommy a break and I enjoyed watching the younguns learn their steps ~ nice!
