Happy St Patrick's Day ...

The Shamrock plant - green as can be!
I can't believe it has been so long since I've posted - Valentine's Day was the last post.  Where, oh where does the time go?
The Luck of the Irish!  May the wind be at your back!  Erin go Bragh!  These are quotes often heard on this day in regard to St Paddy's Day.
Well I am Irish, although 'everyone' claims to be "Irish" on this date - it just goes with the celebration, and the excuse to drink green beer.  Green beer?  Well not me! -but I’m getting off track here.  My mother used to prepare Irish stew often for our supper.   We ‘always’ had Corned Beef and Cabbage on St Patrick’s Day.  I have such fond memories of those days.

And on the “luck of the Irish” aspect here … well I was supposed to be in sunny Florida soaking up the sunshine and spending vacation time with two of my favorite people from tblog - can you guess who they are, or do I have to ‘name names’ Smile

Well, I decided to get sick at an inopportune time and so the doctor said I “wasn’t well enough to travel.”

The nerve!  Doesn’t he know I’d be in good company?  Well, let me explain.  I have been feeling tired and thought the time away to warmer weather would do me good.  And since I had an opportunity to get away I wanted to take advantage of it.

I went to the doctor to renew a script and had the usual weight and blood pressure check; it was discovered that I’d lost 18# on their scale since I was last seen in the office some 16 weeks before.  So doc did further labs to make sure I wasn’t dealing with anything serious.  I am a 6-year cancer survivor but when red flags come up they opt for further testing to find out what we are dealing with.  Well all that lab data was ‘within normal range’ and for completion, and peace of mind, he has scheduled me for a colonoscopy and that is to be done next week.  It was to be done this week but ... ...

In the meantime I spend time with the grandkids and the youngest has a cold.  Guess who has a cold now?  Yes - that would be me, myself, and I.  I say that because I feel like I have a ‘cold enough for three people’ - anyway, it wasn’t in the game plan for me to go to Florida at this time.

Now on that “Luck of the Irish” thing - is it a bad omen that I didn’t get to go to Florida, or is it a good omen that I am not on the road and feeling sick with this cold, let alone not spreading it to my friends?  I think it is the latter.

So let the "Luck of the Irish be with you" - and me as well!

Corned beef and cabbage for dinner would be a good thing ... so long, see y'all later!

I made these especially for "you" ... ((hugs))

I shall return...

I am going to visit my family in the Detroit area on Tuesday and Wednesday with my daughter-in-law and the three grandkids.  We were going to go on Monday but the weather was not cooperating and it looks like the next two days will be better.

So I’ve got to wrap it up here and get ready.  I need my rest as the little ones are a lot of fun and it will be non-stop chatting and stuff and I am so looking forward to this get away!

See you in a few days ~ maybe I’ll have some photos!

((hugs))

Merry Christmas one and all!!!

I want to wish everyone here at tblog a Very Merry Christmas.

I am not going to be online much as I’ll be busy celebrating with my son and his family.  As I’ve mentioned earlier, we do a Christmas Eve service and following that we have a buffet for the family members.  The Mass will be at 4 o’clock as we have little ones: it is called a “children’s mass” and we are all looking forward to attending ~ and probably more looking forward to the buffet afterward ~ Smile

Those in attendance will be my daughter-in-law’s family and she is the oldest of four so there will be lots of people in attendance.  Well actually it is 9 adults and six children ranging in age from a 7-year-old down to a 10-month-old little guy.  Well there will be DIL and my son and their 3 children; her brother, his wife and their two children; and her sister and hubby and their son; her youngest brother lives in California and will not be home for Christmas this year, but will be home in January ~ his work doesn’t allow him time off now as he is low man on the totem pole, if you get the picture.  Well it ‘seems’ like a lot of people ~ the busiest part is the little ones and the excitement of Christmas.  Oh boy!

I tried to include a photo of all the kidlets, but it didn't work out ~ oh well, perhaps another time!

I hope each and everyone has a nice holiday!

Happy Christmas to all... !!!

We heard "Happy Christmas to all" as he drove out of sight!

Merry Christmas my friends!

Time is slipping away and before we know it, Christmas will be here.

Oh what a glorious time it is, too.  I hope everyone has a pleasant time planned with family and loved ones.  I know that I do.

On Christmas Eve I will be going to my son’s home and we will be attending the Christmas Eve Service and then back to their home where my daughter-in-law’s family will all join us and there will be a house full of people for the buffet of special foods served on Christmas Eve.  This is an Italian tradition and I have come to enjoy it a great deal.  After everyone leaves it is time to put the grandkids to bed and place the cookies out for Santa.

Then the next morning we will see what Santa Claus left for the children. And we will enjoy a brunch of Christmas quiche and fresh fruit salad and specialty breads.  This is surely not a low calorie holiday is it?

I hope you all have a special time with your loved ones!

I leave you with a little special greeting.

Shall we gather at the river... Hymn #365

This is a hoot, but I suspect the minister didn't appreciate it.

A minister was completing a temperance sermon.

With great emphasis he said,

'If I had all the beer in the world, I'd take it and pour it into the river.'
With even greater emphasis he said, 'and if I had all the wine in the world, I'd take it and pour it into the river.'
And then finally, shaking his fist in the air, he said, 'and if I had all the whiskey in the world,I'd take it and pour it into the river.'

Sermon complete, he sat down…

The song leader stood very cautiously and announced with a smile, and nearly laughing,

'for our closing hymn, let us sing Hymn #365

'Shall We Gather at the River.'
